Fly Fishing for trout in a particularly beautiful Hampshire ValleyMany individuals unfamiliar with angling fail to grasp the appeal of fly fishing for trout.
That's because, as experienced anglers already know, fly fishing encompasses far more than merely catching a fish, and its intricacies aren't always apparent. One such intricacy is that fly fishing will take you to beautiful places and nestled beneath the South Downs in its own unique valley, far from main roads and the hum drum of life, Meon Springs is one of those places. And also, fly fishing is a much more social sport than many would realise. Here at Meon Springs, for example, we have a Fly Fishery Club that not only gives you discounts it also has regular club meets and gatherings and it's usually not long that new members are welcomed in the clubhouse and find them telling stories of "That Big!"... "This is the most relaxed fishery I have been to. The water is gin clear, the fish fight hard!!! The staff are very friendly and helpful. There is a fully stocked shop. And the lake side food is all you could want on a days fishing trip. - Google Review The FishingHere at Meon Springs, you have a beautiful fly fishery with four spring-fed lakes that has been attracting anglers for some 30 years. One of the unique attractions is that the fishery provides a place to visit for all people - regardless of age and experience.
Please note, for both Day Fishing and Evening Fishing, numbers are limited. Along with the booking, you can choose the relevent number of fish you wish to purchase. Once you've caught your first fish and are becoming hooked on the sport, you may well go through various stages. One of which being able to catch lots of trout, another stalking and landing some big fish and then honing your skills to be able to tangle with the more challenging trout.
With various options of Fishing Tuition, we are here to support you every step of the way. Please see our Fishing School page for details. "Cracking fishery, 3 lakes including a catch and release section, wonderful location buried in the bottom of the south downs...staff are friendly and approachable, always willing to help...fishing experience days available. Fishing shack with bacon butties..free coffee and tea and much more...you will need a current fishing license!!!... Highly recommend a visit you will not be disappointed" - Andrew B - Google Review

The fly Fishery at a glance
Why go TROUT fly fishing?Nobody wants to spend all their life stressed at worked, bored at home or frustrated with every day life. And hard though it is, getting out there and doing something different is so important to everyone. Fly fishing provides the ultimate balance between relaxation and stimulation. Spending time in beautiful surroundings, taking time to perfect a graceful cast and chilling out over a coffee or beer is the ultimate way to relax. Combine this with the all engrossing stuff such as luring a trout to the fly, understanding the mind of a trout and picking the best fly, the best place, the optimum depth, the right cast and the speed of retrieve and you have mindfulness on octane. |
The fly fishery comprises of two lakes for catch and take plus an extensive catch and release section (Meon Beat), which is stocked with a selection of smaller trout, many of them brownies. These fish are much more wily and challenging to catch. They are, however, regularly re-stocked making Meon Beat one of the best stillwater catch and release beats in the country.
We never guarantee that the fishing will be easy (this can be related to the conditions on the day or your level of skill). However we do have a fair policy of giving you fish credits for uncaught fish, which can be redeemed on subsequent visits. For more details, visit our Fishing Prices page.
After finding us, many anglers decide to join our fly fishery club. This provides you with some great financial benefits as well as being very social and making you very much part of Meon Springs.
